As a journalist, I’ve explored key cultural and labour issues, from piece rates for migrant workers in BC to the intersections of poverty, public policy, and financial support for people experiencing homelessness. Over the summer of 2024, I completed a four-month investigative project for The Vancouver Sun, examining the Federal government’s decision to potentially close open-net salmon farms and its impact on workers in small coastal First Nations communities like the ‘Namgis of North Vancouver Island. My time with CBC Vancouver also sharpened my videography skills as I produced a three-part video series on Vancouver’s restaurant sector for The Early Edition, shooting and editing all footage while interviewing over 20 individuals. I’ve spent the past eight years as a reporter and podcast host for Scout, Vancouver's preeminent food and culture magazine, leading their podcast, Track and Food.
Inspired by forward-thinking writers like Derek Thompson, I’m drawn to compelling narratives that intersect with labour, social justice, climate change, and animal welfare. When a topic grabs my attention, I feel a deep need to explore its complexities and tell the stories that might otherwise go unheard. Born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, you’ll often find me shooting hoops at my neighbourhood park—probably asking too many questions along the way.
